Town Hall: Tri-Agency Draft RDM Policy & Request for Feedback
The three Federal granting agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) have developed a draft research data management policy that is intended to guide digital data management and data stewardship practices of researchers funded by the tri-councils. You can read the Draft Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy and FAQs here.
While we do not know the timelines, we anticipate that the implementation of the different elements of the policy will occur in phases and we are continuing to develop a number of resources to support researchers in managing their data (more information will be forthcoming).
The Tri-Agency secretariat is requesting feedback from the research community on the draft policy. While individual responses to the secretariat are encouraged, the VPRI office will be submitting a consolidated response based on your input (the internal deadline for feedback is August 3rd). You can also submit your feedback here.
To assist you in understanding the potential impacts of the policy and to provide a forum for feedback, we will be holding a Town Hall meeting on Thursday July 19th from 1 – 2 pm. Please see details below.
